Loading ...Just a few months ago, it was made known to the world that artist Jeff Koons had been commissioned to design the 17th edition in BMW’s fabled “Art Car” series. This month, the car has been completed and put on display. Originally a 3-D computer-aided design, the image has been converted to 2-D and printed onto vinyl, then wrapped around a BMW M3 GT2.
The new design was revealed at the beginning of the month at Paris’s Pompidou Center, and will now participate in the epic 24 hour Le Mans race in a few days time. Koons had wanted to design an “art car” since 2003.
Previous BMW “Art Cars” have be designed by Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, R. Rauschenberg and David Hockney, to name but a few.
