Tynt Tracer

October 15th, 2009 by eighthsin

Tynt Tracer is a new and exciting javascript feature added to eighthsin.co.uk as the site looks to engage with new web technologies.

Essentially, the script tracks direct user involvement with the site by recording copy and paste activity and automatically adding a link back to the content when it is pasted online somewhere else.

According to Tynt statistics,

At least 2% of page views result in some kind of user action that Tracer can track. What this means is: if your web site has 1 million page views per month then content leaves your site at least 20,000 times per month.

The stats make fascinating reading and the tool is undoubtedly revolutionary in that it records the distribution and use of your content rather than simply recording page hits.

This opens up a ‘pandora’s box’ in terms of marketing as it allows site owners to pinpoint exactly what consumers are looking at.

Thanks for recommendation! I really like your header though; very well done. Though the contrast between text and background colour on the page could be improved, part of the difficulty in my reading your text was due to the monitor I was viewing it on. It’s not nearly as bad on a higher quality display.

@physio – Thanks for the sound advice, changing the site theme has been added to my ‘to do’ list. In the mean time, may I recommend some Asprin ;)

  3. physio says:

Wow, is it ever hard to read the text on your site. It gave me a headache.
