IELTS Speaking: Assessment Criteria

The IELTS Speaking test is designed to assess a wide range of language and communication skills. Certified British Council examiners will be gauging the candidates ability to:

  • Communicate opinions and information on everyday topics and common experiences
  • Speak at length on a given topic using appropriate language
  • Organise ideas coherently
  • Express and justify opinions
  • Analyse, discuss and speculate about issues
